Emillian held on for dear life, struggling to pull herself up. If she did not help herself, how on earth would she help Nathan? She could barely see through her own hair, but instinct knew the ground was quickly approaching. How could anyone survive that?

Lincoln had no idea who he'd just saved, but he could feel his own hand slipping, and he knew he couldn't hold both for long. He also saw an open doorway near the end of the cable still attached to the ship - if they could climb the cable and get inside, they could close the door and escape the vacuum. Summoning all the strength he could muster, he began pulling her up closer to him, so she could grab onto the cable itself like he was.

Emillian was confused for a second, then, realizing his intentions, Emillian reached for the cable. She had never had much arm strength, but the prospect of death seemed to spur a dose of adrenaline in her. Emillian grabbed hold of the cable, the lack of muscles in her arm burning as she struggled to lift herself up and keep a hold on it.

Once she had a grip on the cable herself, Lincoln released her and began climbing up ahead of her, towards the door, hoping and praying that both he and whoever was following him would find the strength to get to safety. Once far enough up, he managed to reach out and grab the doorway, and pull himself into the small storage room. Now inside, he held tightly onto the doorway so he didn't just get sucked out again, then reached down and began pulling the cable, and in extension, Emillian, closer, after observing her difficulties getting up. Just past her Lincoln saw the tips of mountains and some pine-like trees - That sure meant that contact with the ground was mere seconds away.

(
Luckily, the knock sent her hurtling back through another doorway, where she was slammed against a wall, sore, but safe. As safe as a person could be in this situation, at least.

She's in one of the other rooms along the hall.)

(Oh, sorry! That makes it look like I wasn't paying attention!)

Emillian was able to pull herself up momentarily thanks to Lincoln. She curled against the wall, reaching for her inhaler and taking a few puffs. Emillian's hands were shaking - she thought rather to exertion than shock. Her heart was racing and she felt extremely uncomfortable, not to mention the struggle to catch her breath.

With no one else in the hallway able to get inside the storage room, Lincoln reached out with his foot and kicked a control panel near the doorway, which sealed the door shut, cutting him and Emillian off from the open air. He collapsed down to a sitting position himself, before they heard the captain's voice again over the comm system, "We're landing in ten seconds. It's going to be rough, hold onto something!"
Lincoln swore under his breath and looked around the room for something to hold.
"Five seconds to impact..."
He remained sitting on the floor, and grabbed hold of a nearby shelf that was built into the wall, and seemed sturdy enough.

Emillian squeezed her eyes shut, head pounding. This was it. The ship was going to crash to the ground, disintergrate, and before she could scream, they would all be dead. As habit, Emillian stuck her inhaler in her pocket, head in between her legs. She definitely should have stayed in the pod.

Hearing the message, Kait scanned the walls quickly to find something, anything that she could grab onto. She was in one of the pod stations, alone. With her back to the wall, she braced her feet against an empty pod, hoping she wouldn't be thrown around too much on impact.

"Three seconds... two... one..."

* * *

The early morning sun was casting long shadows off the now halted Inception and the nearby trees. Rocks, dust, and snow were still gradually settling in the mile-long trench created by the ship when it touched down and slid forward for thousands of meters before finally coming to a stop, leaving large pieces of metal strewn across the snow. Smoke was rising high into the icy air from the slow-burning fires throughout the ship. The emergency thrusters had slowed the falling vessel enough that it didn't break into a billion pieces upon impact and kill everyone on board, but it was still a rough landing, resulting in the casualties of nearly a third of the people still on board, and nearly everyone had sustained some kind of injury.

* * *

Lincoln slowly came to, a light smell of smoke and blood in the air. He had knocked his head against the shelf sometime during the crash and been knocked unconscious. He put a palm on his forehead, and found it sticky with blood. Still bleary-eyed, he looked around the storage room for Emillian...

Light stabbed into Emillian's eyes, causing her to groan as she opened them. Her hands were still wrapped around the base of a chair, although she did not remember it. Emillian shook her hands away, wringing them out. She moved her legs experimentally - a dull pain shot through them, but nothing she could not handle. Bruises were starting to flower along her arms, some blisters and lacerations. Small trails of blood trickled from arbitrary spots. Frustrated, Emillian wiped them away.

---

"You were out for a while," Emillian whispered, as if hoping not to wake the dead. "The door's jammed."

Lincoln blinked a couple times and swore under his breath as he grabbed the shelf and started to pull himself up. He quickly dropped back down though, as he felt a sharp stab of pain in his leg. He looked down and saw a small, bleeding gash in his upper right thigh. Growling and bracing for the pain, he pulled himself to his feet and leaned against the shelf for support.

There was an odd flickering light in the room when Kait woke up. Unable to see the source from her position, she tried to sit up. Her head spun and her stomach heaved, but there was nothing to come up after three hundred years. Her thoughts were fuzzy, and it took her a moment to remember what happened. Glancing around the room, she took in her surroundings. The small space was half-filled by a large panel that had fallen from the ceiling, blocking her view of the rest of the ship.
Standing slowly so as not to worsen the nausea, Kait staggered across the room, coughing. Her foggy mind dimly registered the smell of smoke, and, after shoving the panel aside, she found the source of both the smoke and the flickering light. There were a few smoldering fires scattered throughout the hall, though several were guttering and dying.
She squinted as she limped out of the pod station. Everything was so white... Her foot sank into something cold, and she realized that there was snow in the ship. She wondered why she hadn't noticed earlier.
"Hello?" She called, her eyes searching the ruins of what had been an amazing piece of engineering. Her left ankle throbbed, and she could barely put weight on it, but she didn't think it was broken so she wouldn't worry about it.

Emillian watched him from the corner of the room, eyes switching from him to the door. She was hungry - really hungry. Isolated like this without water, it would take a matter of hours before morals crumbled. Emillian had searched the room while he had been unconscious, despite the dull ache and the stabbing hunger, and found only a packet of peanuts. She had counted them, 34 in all, and taken four. But she could not live off of 30 peanuts for long.

"You okay?" Lincoln asked quietly as he limped up to the door, and began trying to open it.

"I think so. Just a little shaken up." She watched him fumble with the door and got up. "I'm sorry I'm not a body builder. We could have gotten out of here quicker."

A sound a little ways down the hall Made Kait jump, sending a fresh needle of pain up her ankle. "Is anyone here?" She called, her voice cracking slightly and making her realize how dry her throat was.

"I'm just a software engineer... or I was anyway." Lincoln replied, before going silent. "You hear something?" He whispered, thinking he heard something on the other side of the door. He made a fist and pounded on the door a couple times, trying to get the attention of whomever might be out there.

When Kait got two solid thunks as response, she was almost certain it had been a person. She limped toward the door she thought the sound came from and tugged on it, trying to get it open. It seemed to be stuck, but it shifted a bit. "Hello?" She yelled, louder this time, suddenly desperate to see another living human being. There had to be other survivors.

Emillian made a beeline for the door. She had heard that. "Help!" she shouted, oblivious to Lincoln now.

Lincoln hit the door a couple more times, "Hey! We're stuck in here!"

Katilyn began hearing movement and voices elsewhere on the ship now, nearby. Though she hadn't actually seen anyone yet.

"The door won't open." Kait called through the inch-wide gap between the door and the wall. "I'll try to find something to pry it open." She paused, listening to the noises farther into the ship. It was muffled, but she distinctly heard a male voice yell something.
"I'll be right back." She said, then limped off in the direction of the sounds, looking on the floor and the walls for anything she could use. A crowbar would be nice, she thought, but anything would do. For a minute she considered trying to find the other survivors to help open the door, but decided that she should get it open as fast as possible. They might be hurt in there.
Locating a broken pipe, she limped back to the door as fast as she could manage and jammed it into the crack. Pulling it towards her body, she made the door inch open a little more.

Emillian stepped back, not wanting to get injured. Maybe she would not need her peanuts after all. "We should help her," she replied, thinking aloud.

Lincoln put his fingers in the gap created by the pipe, and began pulling as hard as he could.
