The door screeched loudly as it slid open several more inches. "Almost there..." Kait grunted, heaving on the pipe again. Something gave and the door shot open, sending Kait staggering back and barely keeping her balance.

Emillian jumped back a few more steps, surprised at the sound it made. "Woah," she whispered under her breath, catching her first glimpse of the hallway. Compared the to relative cleanliness of the room, it was a pigsty.

Linconl caught himself on the doorway, then peered out into the hall. "Thanks." He said to the woman who had just helped free them.

Kait jerked a thumb towards the back of the ship. "I heard voices over there. More survivors." Reflexively, she looked both of them over quickly. They looked a little battered, but okay. "I'm Kait, by the way."

"Lincoln Jones." He introduced himself as he stepped out into the hall.

Emillian followed after him, eyes downcast. "I'm Emillian," she murmured, avoiding meeting their eyes.

Rubbing her arms, Kait led the way down the hall towards the other end of the ship. A large door, though a bit stiffly, slid half-way open automatically. There must still be some power working, if not much. She didn't know how long it would last.

"D-Did you see Nathan?" Emillian inquired of Kaitlyn.

"I haven't seen anyone but you two. Not yet, anyway." She added quickly.

Emillian bit her lip. No one? "Does the rest of the ship look like this?" she asked nervously, fearing the answer.

Kait shrugged, then jumped as something crashed loudly farther in the ship. "Probably." Though it was still a mess, the further they got into the ship, the less snow was on the ground and the air was warmer.

Emillian rubbed her arms, shivering. Nathan had forgotten his jacket - it would be much worse for him. At least he had Pica.

Another door slid open, revealing yet another one of Inception's uniform hallways. It looked much like the one they'd just been in, only this one had people. Most of them looked confused and scared. Some didn't move at all, and there was an alarming amount of blood smeared on the walls and floor.

Lincoln limped on ahead into the hall, avoiding the people. He was no doctor, he couldn't help them. Right now he was just concerned with reuniting with his wife... however he kept running the layout of the ship through his head. He could have sworn he'd just come from the other half of the ship that was now gone. Which was where his wife was... but perhaps he'd gotten turned around during all the chaos, and she was still on this half? Yes, that had to be it... he just needed to find someone in uniform who could tell him where he was and how to get back.

Emillian stopped in the doorway. Blood everywhere. Some of it could have been Nathan's...She dropped to her knees in front of the first person, begging them to answer her, to reply with something she wanted to hear.

But the man stared at her with dead eyes and Emillian stood, going to the next. She received the same expression. Sometimes, they would shake their head. Others would grunt. Once Emillian thought she saw him, in the corner of the hallway, huddled against a body for warmth. She ran to him, but he did not bear the same face. And she could not find Pica. Some sense creeped into her. This was the other part of the ship, and Nathan would not be here unless he had run away beforehand. But she had told him he could find a large pipe - had he gone looking for one in the other part of the ship?

A sob ripped it's way through her throat. What had happened to the other side of the ship?

At the end of the hall was a crew member, his uniform bloodied and dirtied, treating some of the wounded. Lincoln rushed up to him, "Do you know where Cryo Station C27 is?"
"Not now!" The crew member replied.
"I just need to know if it's on this half of the ship or not!"
"I don't know! If you want to find out what's going on, go help the others try to get into the cockpit - it's down the next hall and up two decks."
Without waiting for any further information, Lincoln proceeded through the next door and down the hall.

Kait just stood in the doorway, taking it all in as Emillian and Lincoln went to talk to people. Everything suddenly seemed hopeless. How would they colonize? They had no information on this planet, so many of them were dead, and it was freezing. They had been scheduled to land during spring on Eden, and they weren't prepared for this kind of weather.
She felt like just going back to her pod and sleeping; maybe when she woke up she'd find that it was just a dream, and they had all landed on Eden. But she knew that if she did, she wouldn't ever want to get up again, so instead she walked hesitantly into the hall, trying to think of something she could help with. It didn't take long before someone was shoving bandages into her hands and telling her to help with the wounded.

The middle of the hallway was no place to sob. Nathan could be in a room somewhere, safe, or hurt, and she was just sitting here crying. No. Her job was to confirm Nathan's whereabouts and health, and then to protect him if he was alive. It had been her fault he was hurt before, and she would never let that happen again.
Emillian stood, feeling stiffness in her knees. How long had she been sitting there? She glanced around, looking for the two familiar faces. They were gone too. Emillian wondered if she should go around and make sure everyone was out of their pods or go straight to the engines. She decided to check the rooms on her way. Perhaps one of them would hold a startled young child with a stuffed panther.

Travis had the same idea Emillian had, though with different motivations, and was methodically checking each room he could get into for people. Whenever he found someone he sent them towards the broken end of the ship. It would be easier for everyone to get organized if they were all in one spot, and they could find out how many of them were left alive. They'd have to do something about the bodies, too, but for now they could stay put.
He'd taken off his jacket and tied it into a sort of makeshift sack, and as he went through the ship, he collected anything they might be able to use: first aid kits, pocketknives and other small items from the dead, anything useful.

Emillian fought a growing lump in her throat as she neared the engine room. It had been her responsibility; her fault. And now Nathan was god knows where, chilled to the bone, with only Pica to keep him company. She stopped by a room to grab a jacket out of selfishness, then, when she realized there was a child's jacket next to it, grabbed that one. She held it out for a moment, sizing it up and wondering who it belonged to. The thought made her want to cry again.

Lincoln arrived at the door to the cockpit, where two other men were trying to pry it open.
"Hey! Could you give us a hand there?" One of them asked. Lincoln was moving in to help, when a dark haired woman came from around the corner holding some kind of tool.
"See? Told you I'd find something." She said to the two men, barely even noticing Lincoln. The guys stood back, and Lincoln followed suit, as the woman lowered some goggles onto her face, and pointed the tool at the door's lock. The tool turned out to be some kind of laser welder type thing, which after a couple minutes melted a hole in the door, allowing it to be opened.
"We woulda got it eventually..." One of the men commented as the group of four entered the cockpit.

The pilot and two co-pilots were all dead, still strapped in their seats. The glass screen in front of them was cracked, and many of the computers inside were damaged beyond repair. A few were still active though.
"Lets see what kind of state she's in..." One of the men said as he cracked his knuckles and approached a computer. Lincoln just silently stood back for now - these people seemed to know what they were doing, or at least more so than he did right now.

When Travis's worn old jacket was full he pulled one off of a cold body. He didn't need it, and someone else would, so he didn't feel bad about stealing from him. Stuffing it as he went, he made his way slowly to the front of the ship. It seemed that someone had managed to get into the cockpit; he could still smell the molten metal in the air.
He poked his head in the door, shifting his bundles to a more comfortable position on his back. "Found anything?" He asked the group of four who stood inside.

There were plenty of things that could have gone wrong with the ship. Hundreds of tiny little details that could have been messed up that would have resulted in a catastrophe such as this one. Emillian needed fresh air -  she needed to be outside. Going deeper into the ship was not a good idea. But she wanted to know what had happened.

"...yes." The man at the computer replied in a distracted tone, currently looking over damage reports and power grids.
"Looks like we lost half the ship." He added.
    "No shit..." The woman said.
"We've got less than five percent power, and only three engines are still running. I'm unlocking what doors I can, now."
"What about cryo station G-13?" Lincoln suddenly asked.
"G-13... lets see... the entire G section was on the other half of the ship." The man replied.
Lincoln felt crushed. "But there could be survivors, right? They must have crashed somewhere, just like we did."
"No way of knowing right now." The woman said, "We know about as much as you do."

Meanwhile, throughout the ship, many doors with functioning power unlocked and opened. Many more however couldn't be opened remotely, due to the power to them being cut or damaged.

The door to the engine room was locked. Emillian pressed her ear to the door, heard the humming of the engines. It was very faint, but there. Emillian cursed, then turned back around. Perhaps the best thing to do was join a crowd. But then again, that may be the worst thing to do. Conflicted, Emillian made her way back through the ship, heading towards the cockpit. There would be a small group there, she was sure. Maybe she could figure out what went wrong.
