Not immediately comfortable with stealing a ship and skipping town, the bartender began looking around for an alternative. Also he wasn't a sailor, so getting it out of the dock may prove tricky if he tried by himself.

Aaliyah was obviously fine with this plan. "Coming?" She grunted as she heaved the wounded man to the gangway.

"...Yeah." The orc followed, hoping there'd be a crew or something.

Vaekara stumbled towards the captain's chambers. He opened the door and crossed the room towards a carpet, lifting it up to reveal a hatch. As he opened the hatch, he beckoned Aaliyah and the barkeep. "They won't find us here." He dropped down into the smuggler's room, wincing as he collided with the floor.

"Just going to hide in a hole till this is all over?" The orc asked, hesitating at the top. Then he heard another explosion coming from town.
"...On second thought, hiding in a hole is a great idea." He climbed down as well.

Vaekara looked to Aaliyah and asked, "You coming, or would you rather be sucked dry by one of these Vampires?"

"Yeah..." Aaliyah looked around the docks to make sure they weren't followed, then climbed down. "Are you all right?"

"I think so, can one of you pull these things out of me?" He gestured to the arrows in his thigh.

"Uh, yeah, if you don't mind some surgery." Aaliyah said, drawing a dagger.

In preparation for the removal of the arrows, Vaekara bit down hard on a piece of cloth.

"Barkeep, see if you can find anything for bandages." Aaliyah crouched next to Vaekara and examined the wounds. The tip of one had gone right through his leg, but the other was still embedded.

Aaliyah started on the easy one first. She snapped the fletching off and grasped the arrowhead, then pulled the shaft straight through and tossed it onto the floor. The second one was going to be a bit harder.
She raised her knife, paused, then sliced into his leg at the entry wound, opening it up a few inches wider so she could reach in. She carefully pulled the arrowhead out of the wound with her fingers.

During the whole operation Vaekara was squirming in pain. He had suffered far worse at the hands of the Dark Elves during the war, but pain is still pain.

The bartender found and tore up some towels, which he brought to Aaliyah to be used as bandages.

It took several minutes, but Aaliyah finally got the arrow out all the way. She tossed it onto the ground with the other one and started applying the towels. "You're lucky." She commented as she bandaged him.

"Thank you, Aaliyah." Vaekara grimaced as he tried to shift his weight. "Hey barkeep, since I never asked, what's your name? Figure we should at least get to know one another if we're going to die here."

Aaliyah wiped the blood off her hands and started searching for food, as she hadn't gotten to eat the stuff she ordered in the tavern.

"Nice to meet you, Shrub. Just wish it could've been under better circumstances."

As the trio sat in the smuggler's den of the ship, they heard a bloodcurdling roar coming from the town. Along with the roar, the sound of lumber cracking was also quite loud. "What in Oblivion was that?" Vaekara hissed under his breath.

"By the Gods... that's a Cathay-Raht." Shrub whispered in a gravely voice, looking up at the hatch.

Vaekara looked up at Shrub in alarm. "How could it have survived? It was mauled by a Werewolf, crushed by a support beam, and engulfed in flames!" He looked at his thigh, it was already scabbed and didn't hurt nearly as much as before. The shoulder that Hound had bitten was also nearly healed. "How in Oblivion..."

The boat was rocked as it hit a rock. It had begun to drift out on the tide.

Shrub lurched forward but caught a beam to steady himself. "Not sure if this is getting better or worse..."

"The best thing we can do is ride out the tide. It should carry us most of the way to Skyrim."

Vaekara attempted to stand yet again, and was able to do so. He walked over to the ladder, opened the hatch, and climbed to the top. As he walked out onto the deck of the Spearmaiden, Vaekara spoke. "We should be there by nightfall." He chuckled. "Or at least what used to be nightfall."
