Killroy, after being washed across the room, got to his feet and raised his sword again while looking for his Orcish adversary.

Killroy didn't immediately see him - or anyone, for that matter. Grith had vanished, door slammed behind him, and the water level in the room was swiftly rising, past his waist already.

---

Meanwhile, inside the painting, water began to leak in through the trap door.

"Hey..." Glink watched it for a moment, then tried drinking it. While that was happening, Lydianna and Shifty's world began blurring and moving.

"This is the end... THE END!" Shifty shouted.

"Oy, not this again." he muttered, as he began to approach the door himself, though cautiously as he watched in case one of the hostiles jumped out from the water or behind something.

"Try and swing that door shut!" Lydianna shouted up to Glink.

There was a massive upheaval of water beside Killroy as the bigger of the two hostiles did just that, spreading his arms wide and attempting to tackle the Eastporter and push him underwater.

//9.

---

"Swinging! Got it!" Glink called back, before trying to swing back and forth on the door, opening it wider.

Killroy was unable to move in time and was knocked underwater by the big orc. From underneath him he tried to reposition his sword and stab Mennfred in the side.

"NO! NOT LIKE THAT!" Lydianna roared, "CLOSE THE DOOR!"

//8 Def.

Killroy's blade found its mark, and the water surrounding the orc began to discolor in dark clouds; but Mennfred barely loosened his grip, and the both of them were completely submerged by the swiftly rising water level. A few moments later, it had reached the ceiling. Hopefully everyone has good lungs...

    Meanwhile, outside...

    "Isn't that the Governor's horse?"

    "Bit small, isn't it?"

"No, look at the colors, I'm sure that's it."

"Looks like a goldfish to me."

"What?" The ____ turned to see what his partner was looking at. Apparently it wasn't the horses, it was the window to the house. A window through which a goldfish could be seen floating by.

    "What the..."

"I must say this is quite unusual." His partner nodded in agreement.

An unconscious dwarf floated by next. They just watched for a moment.

"So, should we kick it in?"

    They watched some more.

    "Yeah, alright."

    It went something like this:

A few seconds after everything had settled and the water had distributed itself across the street, the laundry list of things strewn across the soaked yard were as follows:
    A dwarf.
    An elf.
    A human.
    A goblin.
    An orc.
    Half a dozen Shoonsville guards.
Dozens of ruined paintings and papers.
The remains of china, dishes, and other interior furnishings.
    The remains of the door.
The remains of the main characters' dignity.
Just kidding, that was gone long ago.
And absolutely no horses, because they were smart enough to run away.

The elf groaned, rolled over onto his belly, and shoved himself up on shaky arms. "Amin delotha llie..." he muttered, before collapsing back into his puddle.

The human, also known as Killroy, staggered out of the water with his sword still in hand. He was sputtering something fierce, but recovered relatively quickly.

"Bah! Too much time in the continental interior has made a landlubber outta me!" he spat between coughs.

There was a few seconds pause.

"It's them!" one of the guards exclaimed in sudden realization.

"Ya don't say..." a second guard on the ground next to him muttered.

Keng the Goblin was the first to her feet, and she immediately began helping her Orcish companion up. "Quick! We must go-"

She was interrupted however, as a painting drifted to a stop near their feet, and out flew Lydianna, landing right on top of the both of them.

"Oi... you're all under arrest!" A third guard spluttered, trying(Without much luck) to get up.

The first thing Lydianna did was comically pat herself down to make sure everything was still in one piece.

"Oh, thank God..." she groaned, laying her head back, then realizing she was sprawled-out over a couple of people, "Wait, what the--"

She staggered to her feet and drew out her sword, just as some of the guards were.

"Lieutenant?" one of the guards gasped in surprise.

"Eh...?" Lydianna raised an eyebrow at him.

"Clearly she's joined forces with these brigands!" the acting commander of the guards suddenly spoke-up, ambitiously hoping to retain his current position of command and have it made permanent, "Arrest her too!"

The dwarf staggered to his feet just as the acting commander was making his accusations.

"See Shorty! I told you we couldn't trust her!" Todd declared as he pointed at Lydianna, not noticing that Glink was not yet present.

Mhaenal heaved himself out of the mud with much effort and slipping. "Alright, I believe there has been something of a misunderstanding here."

The criminal goblin and orc servants were meanwhile (badly) attempting to crawl away unnoticed in the background... until being thwarted by another flying person, as Glink came flying out of the portrait along with a spray of fresh paint. She stood up proudly, not even noticing she was on top of someone.
"Whoever invented trap doors was a genius." She declared.

"Aye." Killroy just shrugged in agreement with Todd.

"Where did that one come from!? What manner of witchery is this!?" Guard #1 exclaimed upon seeing the instant Glink.

"Who cares, arrest ALL OF THEM!" the sergeant of the guards barked.

"But that's the Lieutenant! She might have been captured!" Guard #2 protested.

"She still has her sword, you nitwit! She's joined forces with the enemy!" the sergeant snapped.

Lydianna looked majorly confused, as though some memories were just below the surface of her consciousness trying to get out.

"Wait a minute..."

"Sir, maybe we should give her a chance to explain herself?" Guard #2 insisted.

"She can explain herself when she's clamped in irons!" the sergeant roared, not noticing the sound of approaching horses behind, "What are you all standing around for? Arrest the-- AH!"

*satisfying clang*

The sergeant was suddenly knocked silly by a rider wielding a frying pan, just as a whole team of horses arrived on the scene.

"The cavalry is here!" Redford proclaimed, holding his frying pan to the sky dramatically as he rode straight through the standoff, a pair of horses trailing behind him, one of them the governor's horse.

Jared dozily arrived right behind him, with Todd's horse in tow, which he released as he neared the group and allowed the creature to trot right over to the dwarf.

Meanwhile, Killroy quickly plucked Glink off her organic podium and put her on the governor's horse, turned around and kicked a pursuing guard in the chest and knocking him back into the mud, then mounting up behind her.

"Wait, wasn't I supposed to arrest these-- WHHAAAAA--" Lydianna had just figured it out, when Jared came lumbering by, somehow managing to grab her with one of his big hands and haul her up onto his horse with him, "--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT???"

And with that, she was carried off into the sunset treeline, which Redford and Killroy had already escaped into.

"Don't worry, this is probably just a deception," Todd said calmly as he mounted his horse, and rode off after the others.

"After them!" the guard sergeant roared.

"How!?" one of the other guards questioned.

"Get the horses!"

"..."

"..."

"What horses?"

"Oy..."

As the sergeant was facepalming in frustration, two of the other guards were tying up the Orc and Goblin conspirators.

"Well, at least we won't go back empty-handed." Guard #3 remarked.

"It doesn't matter." the sergeant sighed, "The governor is not going to be happy about this..."

The eastern road...

Having given the pursuing guards the slip, and having somehow managed to successfully bring an assassination conspiracy to justice, the odd collection of fools were now riding to the great plains to the east. Or they were, until they came to a fork in the road, one of which curved north, to the vast deserts of Ochre's Void, the other continuing straight, through the heart of the plains and toward the great Barrier Mountains that separated the Cerulean Valley from the rest of the continent.

"Well lads, where to?" Killroy wondered, looking back at the weary assembly.

"We're seven, not two!" Glink replied, holding up eight fingers, before frowning and re-evaluating her math.

Lydianna just rolled her eyes at Glink.

"The deserts lie to the north, and the city of the Corsairs beyond that. They are raiders and pirates, much like the men of Eastport, though admittedly with greater manners. If we wish to continue east, we will draw closer to Cerulea, the homeland of our pursuers as it were." Killroy explained, completely oblivious to Glink and wishing to try and get a better reaction from Mhaenal.

"My homeland, you mean." Lydianna sighed, "And somewhere I won't be able to return to because you idiots had to make me a fugitive from my own men!"

Todd had built a small fire, and was roasting some sort of food on a stick. It seemed to be white and spongy.

"I'm still here, just so you all know." He said as he popped one of the items into his mouth.
